Balnarring Primary School
18 June 2025

With a wonderful school community and the Balnarring Way at the heart of what we do, I am already very convinced that Balnarring Primary School is a pretty cool place to be however, since having Indigenous Outreach Projects on site last week I feel that we have become 25% cooler! It was great to see so many students throwing down their best moves during the hip hop display and workshops throughout the day. As well as having amazing dance moves, Indigenous Outreach Project also promote the key themes of No Shame, Be Proud and Respect. These messages are important for students and all members of our school community to have front of mind.

This week I spent time with class 5A while they were learning about Haiku Poetry. Mel P and the class were doing a fantastic job of extending their thinking and created some Haiku Peoms of their own.

Schools have been contacted by the Proactive Policing Unit regarding increasing issues and complaints involving E Scooters and E Bikes. Schools have been asked to share flyers and fact sheets to raise awareness among children and families around the potential dangers associated with E Scooters and E Bikes. Please find the flyers from the Proactive Policing Unit included later in this newsletter.

We have recently had an audit of our trees undertaken. This process involves the development of a tree risk hazard assessment and subsequent tree management plan as part of the Department of Education Safe Trees Program. It is important that we have a good understanding of the health and condition of our trees so that we can put all measures in place to care for them whilst also ensuring safety. Over the next 6 months there will be some trees that will have pruning and monitoring as well as a small number of trees that will be removed due to being determined as high priority with regard to safety. Please contact me should you have any queries regarding this.
