Balnarring Primary School
16 November 2025

I would like to thank all of our students and families for supporting our sports dress fundraiser. I am pleased to share that the school raised $501.40 and that all funds raised went towards supporting Jack F (Year 6 student) to represent Victoria and Balnarring Primary School at the School Sport Victoria Under 12 Boys Cricket Carnival in Ballarat. Throughout the tournament the Victorian team remained undefeated and won the tournament.

Congratulations to Jack (who was named Vice Captain of the side) and the Victorian Team who are the 2025 champions. We look forward to celebrating with Jack when he returns to school from Ballarat.

We experienced very severe weather on Wednesday 22 October, when The Little Long Walk event was planned. Although the weather prevented the event from taking place outside, we were still able to have the story telling from Jaeden Williams, dance workshop from Culture Evolves and Jack Perris spoke about the meaning behind the Little Long Walk after having run workshops with our students to make their banners. We managed to have a walk that was undercover and indoors where our Foundation students walked with their banners and were cheered along by the rest of the school with their banners as well. Thank you students and staff for working together to find a way for us to recognise the Little Long Walk even with the terrible weather that day.

n Friday 31 October we celebrated World Teacher’s Day. I hope that our wonderful teachers felt appreciated and valued with students coming to school dressed as a teacher as well as a special morning tea and lunch that was provided by our Parents and Friends Group. Last week I spoke to a number of students who shared with me some special comments about our teachers. Here are some examples of what I heard:

I like Mrs K she is kind and a great teacher – Maggie, Foundation

I like Kate because she is really kind – Elsie, Year 2

I like Mr Cornall because he likes drawing and so do I – Harry, Year 2

I like Katie because she makes learning excellent – Aspen, Foundation

Mr Gilmour is helpful and you can talk to him. He’s always going to be there if you need help. He makes learning fun and plans great Year 6 activities – Georgia, Milan and Ruby, Year 6

Thank you Miss Hanafie for helping us learn new stuff in not a complex way. She makes learning easier – Archie, Year 2

Our construction works for the drainage rectification continues and is approaching its finals stages with only one or two more weeks until most of the temporary fencing can be removed. We have had some bouts of heavy rain to test that all of the infrastructure is working efficiently to direct storm water down towards our Wetlands and away from buildings. It has been exciting to see some of the landscaping coming together and I am sure the end result will be worth all of the inconvenience that comes with construction.
