This morning I spoke with Ruby and Lexie from Year 5 before they headed off to the Crib Point Pool to represent our school in the Inter School District swimming trials. We wish all of our students the very best in participating in their allocated events. I look forward to hearing from them about how they went.
On Wednesday 18 February we had meet the teacher interviews. I would like to thank parents and carers for their attendance at these sessions. Our staff greatly appreciate the information that parents/carers provide so that we can form strong partnerships to support students learning and wellbeing needs.
Balnarring Primary School is again supporting the Womandjeka Festival that will be held at Emu Plains Reserve on Saturday 14 March 2026. The festival are seeking community volunteers to assist with various roles as part of the Festival. Parents/carers who are interested in volunteering can follow this link for more information https://forms.gle/6S3Z7oPskPFusgAb9
We are excited to host our school community picnic on Thursday 5 March, 4pm-5.30pm. This will be an opportunity for families to come together and enjoy one another’s company. Families can BYO picnic or purchase a sausage or veggie burger on the night. We hope to see as many families as possible come along.
Keep an eye out in the Mornington Peninsula Newspaper for the Meet the Principal article featuring Max, Millie and Grace from Year 2. I am very proud to have these students representing our school alongside me in the local newspaper.
am also pleased to share that we are now hosting school tours for families looking to enrol for Foundation in 2027. If you know of local families with pre school aged children please encourage them to register for one of our school tours. I have included a flyer that has a QR code for registration later in this edition of the newsletter. Alternatively, please contact our office on 5931 4444 for enrolment or school tour booking queries. We are also in the early stages of planning for Mini Scientist and Mini Musician stay and play sessions that will be taking place during Term 2 and Term 3 this year. This program will be for pre school aged children and their families to come along and try our wonderful science and arts programs. Keep an eye out for more information coming soon!
I encourage families to access some new resources that have recently been launched by the Department of Education. The Easing into adolescence webpage is for families of students aged 10 to 14 (Grade 5 to Year 8).
The webpage has information and strategies you can use to help ease your child into adolescence and secondary school. These include:
- a guide to emotion coaching. Staff from The University of Melbourne’s Tuning into Teens Kids program developed the guidance.
- how to support your adolescent with their studies and more generally. Parenting expert and clinical psychologist Andrew Fuller helped develop this resource.
For questions about these resources, contact the Strategic Partnerships, Transitions and Student Voice team. You can email them at [email protected].
